Synopsis: Jack Monroe was born in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and grew up in San Diego, California. He is the only adopted son of a Navy couple. After studying film at San Francisco State, he moved to Los Angeles in 1994 to pursue his career in the entertainment industry. His education continued as an assistant to producer, Michael Manheim (Leap of Faith/Dirty Pictures) and production assistant on the ABC telefilm, TRIAL BY FIRE (1995).
As a writer, Mr. Monroe has had two short scripts produced: THE DRIVE (1996) which received an award for Best Short by the Black American Cinema Society, and LETTING GO (1998) which he also directed. Mr. Monroe's first feature to be produced was RAZORTOOTH (2005) which is in post-production and due out later this year.
As an actor, Mr. Monroe has appeared on stage in ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST (2001) for which he took home the award for Best Character Actor, and can be seen as "Chubby Deputy" in the up-coming RAZORTOOTH (2005). For the last several years, Mr. Monroe has worked on a number of writing assignments including, RAY'S LIST OF GOOD DEEDS (1998) for Moonglow Entertainment in New York, NIGHT KRAWLERS (2001) which was sold to Kismet Entertainment, SHIVER (2003) for producer, William Stuart (The Rock), and RAZORTOOH (2005) for producer, Mike Elliott (The Devil's Rejects/Peaceful Warrior) which is now in post-production.
Mr. Monroe most recently directed a short promotional reel for PITCHFORK (2006), an old school slasher film with a contemporary twist, and plans to direct the feature in August 2007.
Currently, Mr. Monroe has just finished up another writing assignment, EVERYONE MUST DIE (2006) for Czech producer, Petr Firt. With the story set in Prague, Mr. Monroe was asked to travel to the Czech Republic to do research. He now resides in Tujunga, CA, with his wife, Sona, and their daughters, Madilyn and Nicole.
